Found the aluminum!

I've been calling around, and finally found a supplier for the aluminum for my teardrop skin. I found it at Loxscreen in West Columbia, SC. A little over $70 for a 4' by 10' by 0.040" sheet of 5020 aluminum. I do have to figure out how I'm going to pick it up - I'll probably end up renting a U-Haul and getting all the sheet goods in the same trip.

Slow AND unsteady - that's my kind of progress ;)

Still in the gathering phase...

OK - so I've managed to borrow a table saw, angle grinder, and a few other tools from my Dad - and they're in the garage awaiting materials. Still trying to find the aluminum for the exterior - had a lead at an in-town place, but they can't get what I need. I may need to go to Charlotte.

We'll see how it goes...

Slow (no) progress

Working on tool assembly...my dad has a table saw that he's going to let me borrow. I did spend some time this past weekend rearranging the garage, and I made some good progress there.

Need the buy the trailer, and the parts for the floor. Soon...

It's Started! (sorta)

Well, I got my first Teardrop part yesterday - the fuse panel. I know that's a strange thing to buy first, but I'm OK with that.

I ordered the 6-position fuse block from BlueSea - you can look at it here.

I'm planning to build the 8' Cubby from the Kuffel Creek plans.

I've had the CD for a couple of years now, but now I have a garage and a space to build it. I'll need to get the trailer next, and the lumber for the flooring and sides. I'll try to keep this site updated with pictures as I go.
